WHAT is the Gottman Program workshop? WHO is it for?

We are glad to bring this program for the first time to Columbus, Ohio! The Bringing Baby Home (BBH) workshop is a one of a kind, evidence-based workshop that prepares couples for life with the baby and helps them be the best parenting team possible. Developed by renowned relationship and parenting experts at The Gottman Institute, the BBH program is perfect for those who are:

  • Planning to have a baby
  • Expecting a baby
  • New parents of infants 0-6 months

This two day, 6-hour couples workshop, is for parents who are new to parenting or parents who are going to have their 2nd or 3rd child and are ready to build a stronger relationship to help reduce the stress of trying to do it ALL! You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively cope with the various changes that typically occur during the first five years of your child's life. During the workshop, you and your partner will learn to:

  • Strengthen your friendship
  • Increase intimacy and affection
  • Work through conflict with greater ease
  • Maintain relationship satisfaction
  • Reduce hostility
  • Create positive parent-baby interactions
  • Ensure quality involvement for both parents
  • Reduce the incidence or severity of postpartum mood disorders

  • Understand child development
  • Create co-parenting strategies
  • Communicate, connect, and compromise
  • Recognize signs of postpartum mood disorders and gain awareness of treatment options
  • Maintain and enhance your relationship during other challenging life events

The statistics are real: 92% of couples report arguing more during the first year after baby is born. 67% of couples report a decline in relationship satisfaction after having a baby together. 74% of women do not reach out for help until they are not able to cope. Why is it so challenging?
